Happy Duct — Air Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning

Residential Air Duct Cleaning

Dust and pet hair settle inside the ductwork and lift back into the airflow every time the system starts.

Your duct system moves the same air through every room of your home, over and over, every day it runs. Dust, pet hair, and fine debris gradually settle along the inside of those ducts, and each time the heating or cooling system starts, part of that buildup lifts back into the airflow. Professional duct cleaning takes the material out of the system instead of leaving it to circulate.

When a Home Duct System Usually Needs Cleaning

Most homeowners notice the same handful of signals before they call:

Dust settles again right after you clean.

Surfaces near vents film over within a day or two of dusting.

A stale or musty smell when the system kicks on.

The odor arrives with the airflow and fades once the system shuts off.

Weak or uneven airflow.

Some rooms never quite reach a comfortable temperature, or the air coming through certain vents feels noticeably softer than elsewhere.

Visible debris at vent openings.

Lint, hair, and gray buildup along the slats usually reflect what has collected further down the run.

Allergy symptoms that get worse indoors.

Congestion or irritation that eases when you leave the house points toward something in the indoor environment.

Heating and cooling costs creeping upward

without a change in how you use the system.

Recent remodeling or construction.

Drywall dust, sawdust, and insulation fibers find their way into open ductwork easily, including in newly built homes where the system ran during the project.

Pets in the home or heavy seasonal pollen,

both of which put more hair, dander, and airborne particles into the system than a filter alone can manage.

No record of a previous cleaning.

If nobody can say when the ductwork was last serviced, it is worth having someone look.

How Often Should Residential Ducts Be Cleaned?

For a typical home, the general industry range is every three to five years. Homes with pets, allergy sufferers, indoor smoking, recent renovation work, or heavy year-round system use often benefit from shorter intervals.

The National Air Duct Cleaners Association favors judging the system by its actual condition rather than by a set schedule, which is a sensible way to think about it. Regular inspection tells you whether the ductwork genuinely needs service, and cleaning happens when the condition calls for it.

One timing note worth keeping in mind: after a renovation, schedule the cleaning once the dust-producing work is finished and before the house goes back to normal use. Cleaning while construction is still underway means the system fills back up.

What Our Standard Service Covers

Starting at $349 per HVAC system

Our standard residential air duct cleaning service includes:

  • Supply and return main duct cleaning
  • Cleaning of up to 15 supply and return vents
  • Blower inspection
  • Cooling coil inspection
  • Sanitizing and disinfection of the ductwork

Before any work starts, we inspect the system, explain what the service will involve, and confirm the price with you.

How the Cleaning Is Done

The point of a professional cleaning is to physically remove debris from the ducts and capture it, rather than disturbing it and letting it resettle. Our work follows that approach from start to finish.

  1. 1

    Inspection and assessment

We begin by reviewing the duct system and its overall condition, along with anything the homeowner has noticed — dust patterns, odors, weak airflow in particular rooms. That review shapes how the job is approached.

  2. 2

    Vacuum collection under negative pressure

A powerful vacuum unit with filtered collection is connected to the system and holds the ductwork under negative pressure throughout the job. Everything loosened during the cleaning travels toward the collection equipment rather than into the rooms of the house.

  3. 3

    Mechanical agitation

Suction by itself does not release material that has bonded to duct walls. Brushes and compressed-air tools work through the trunk lines and out along each supply and return branch, breaking loose the buildup so the vacuum can carry it away. Working the runs one at a time is what allows the sections behind walls and ceilings to be reached.

  4. 4

    Sanitizing and disinfection

Once the ducts are clean, we treat the duct surfaces to address lingering odors and microbial growth.

  5. 5

    Final check and recommendations

We confirm the results, return the system to normal operation, and leave the work area clean. Before we finish, we go over what was done and share any maintenance recommendations for keeping the system in good shape.

Time required: the cleaning is completed in a single visit and generally takes about two to five hours. The main variables are the number of HVAC systems in the home, how many supply and return vents there are, and the condition and layout of the ductwork.

What Cleaning Does for Your Home

Less dust in circulation.

No service eliminates household dust — it comes from people, pets, fabrics, and outdoor air. What cleaning removes is the debris that has collected inside the ducts and keeps getting picked back up, which is why homes often stay cleaner between dustings afterward.

Fewer particles moving through the house.

Hair, dander, pollen, and fine debris resting in the ductwork are taken out rather than left to be stirred up with every cycle.

More even airflow.

Buildup along duct walls narrows the path air travels. Clearing it helps air reach each room more consistently.

Support for system performance.

Ductwork free of accumulated debris helps the system do its job, particularly when paired with regular filter changes and routine HVAC maintenance.

A cleaner start after renovation.

Construction debris that entered the ducts during a project gets removed instead of circulating through the finished space.

A clear picture of your ductwork.

The inspection shows the real condition of the duct system, and we tell you what we find.
